Natural Causes…

It has been an insane year… a truly mixed bag of magGot splendor…

We’ve been filming non stop… editing around the clock… and gearing up for the next big scream fest. Meetings and tons of plans in the mix… We’re anxious to announce the groovy good news ahead of us…

Meanwhile, Mr. Ben has been having a rather rough battle with his health. I hadn’t planned on another release of …And Then I Helped until we could lock down a Pittsburgh/American premiere… It’s screened numerous times in Canada, but we’ve yet to get the gears in place for a proper local premiere. Just when this was in the works, Mr Ben’s health took a turn for the worse….

He’s very much become a father figure, the past eight years. My own father passed away far too early and Mr Ben was there. I had moved into the apartment building he lived in and he took me under his wing. I doubt Mr Ben will ever know just how much he’s helped to inspire and pave the way forward to where I am today. When I left Toe Tag, I had a dark year getting my feet back on the ground. He was a huge factor in me maintaing composure and never losing a beat cranking away on magGot Films and all else…

Mr Ben starred in part of a feature anthology, the episode he is in was entitled: ‘Natural Causes‘. He’d shown me the work print when we first met. It was the first feature film he’d had a lead roll in, but the financing fell through near the films completion… The film was never completed. As is, I found the film to be a blast. Recently I’ve been contacting various friends of Mr Ben’s and keeping them in tune with his current uphill battle. One of those people happened to be the director of Natural Causes, Tom Tully.

Tom and I hit it off and decided it a great thing to do a limited release of …And Then I Helped with a bonus work print of Natural Causes included. There will be interviews available to those whom obtain this cut. They will focus on Mr Ben in the hopes of bringing some awareness to one of the most talented, humble and intelligent actors I’ve ever known.

It is an honor to be the lucky director whom was able to cast Mr Ben in his first lead role in a feature film. He has been in several films through the years. Huge films in fact. Films such as Silence of the Lambs, The Wind and the Lion, Battle of the Bulge, Crack in the World, The Cemetery Club, etc… He directed and starred in several theatrical productions through the years. He also owned his own studio in Madrid (Ameropa Studios) and directed the English dubbing of nearly 200 Spanish films. Including several of Paul Naschy‘s films. He’s written an awe inspiring memoir ‘The Dream Never Dies: The Life of a Working Actor’ and is in search of a publisher. Another intriguing thing he did was spend time with Ava Gardner and Jackie Gleason separately as their personal assistants. Both of whom he saw naked. One of which he slept with…

But, Mr Ben only had one lead role in a feature film prior to us meeting. Ironically it was one third of an anthology, the same exact intention we originally had with …And Then I Helped. The classic story of a budget running dry and leaving a film in the gutter… was all that remained. Luckily the same curse did not bury …And Then I Helped. Now it is it’s own feature length tale, driven by a mastermind thespian.

Today, we have clarity and Tom Tully and I wish to bring a snapshot into what was filmed on 16mm some time ago. Together for the first time, …And Then I Helped and Natural Causes are now available on a limited print. Take a look into the incredible world of Mr Ben as he owns the silver scream…

Dig into the STORE to pick up the current limited release of …And Then I Helped and peak at the cursed film Natural Causes!
